The overarching purpose of the project grants is to provide support for researchers to undertake projects focusing on important areas of child and adolescent health and in so doing to:
- Create new knowledge
- Develop and test innovative ideas and solutions
- Facilitate career development within the research team
- Provide research leadership within their field of expertise
- Translate research findings into clinical practice and improved child and adolescent health outcomes
Two types of project grants are available, namely Developmental Project Grants and Established Researcher Project Grants. Please read the Project Grants Application Guidelines (below) for eligibility for each scheme. The Project Grants are competitive and subject to external review.
Project Grants will be a key capacity building tool to allow:
- Early Career Researchers to undertake research;
- Mid Career and Senior Researchers to enhance their track record and increase competitiveness for either external funding or a QCMRI Program Grant; and/or
- All researchers to undertake a pilot study to make a research project more competitive for external funding.
Successful applicants are expected to continue to apply for external funding of their research. This includes applications to external bodies such as the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), Cancer Council, Heart Foundation, ANZ Trustees, Diabetes Australia and Australian Research Council (ARC) etc.
To be eligible to receive QCMRI funding, applicants are required to formally become members of the Institute. This includes all chief investigators listed on funding applications.
The QCMRI Project Grants scheme is now closed.
