QCMRI Fellowships

The QCMRI Fellowships support excellence in research into child and adolescent health. The purpose of these Fellowships is to attract researchers to QCMRI, retain outstanding researchers and to provide dedicated research time. In so doing, it is expected these Fellowships will result in improved health outcomes for children and adolescents, development of new treatments and savings in the health dollar.

Two types of project fellowships are available, Early Career and Mid Career Fellowships. Please read the Fellowship Application Guidelines (below) for eligibility for each scheme. Fellowships are competitive and subject to external review.

Each successful Fellow will automatically receive a QCMRI Project Grant commensurate to the level of the Fellowship. The Fellowship Scheme Application Form includes an application for project funding, which will be assessed in conjunction with the Fellowship application against project specific criteria.

Successful applicants are expected to continue to apply for external funding which will be used to replace their Fellowship and augment their available research funding. This includes applications to external funding bodies such as the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), Australian Research Council (ARC), Cancer Council, Heart Foundation, ANZ Trustees and Financial Markets for Children etc. To facilitate administration of current and future funding, appointments will be established within QCMRI at UQ for all QCMRI grant recipients.

To be eligible to receive QCMRI funding, applicants are required to formally become members of the Institute. This includes all chief investigators listed on funding applications.
The 2011 QCMRI Fellowships scheme is now closed.
