Professor Keith Grimwood  ONZM MBChB(Otago) MD(Melbourne) FRACP

Professor Keith Grimwood is the Director of the Queensland Children’s Medical Research Institute and Conjoint Professor in the University of Queensland’s School of Medicine.

Apart from his work at the Royal Children’s Hospital as a Paediatric Infectious Disease Physician, Professor Grimwood is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and a member of the American Society of Microbiology, the Association of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases – Canada and the Australasian Society of Infectious Diseases.

His ongoing research interests include rotavirus gastroenteritis for which he received an MD, the microbiology of cystic fibrosis lung disease and other respiratory infections.                                                                                                      

 

Deputy Director

Professor Peter Sly   MBBS, FRACP, MD, DSc

Professor Peter Sly is a NH&MRC Senior Principal Research Fellow and a paediatric respiratory physician with extensive research experience in respiratory physiology. Professor Sly is a frequent speaker at international conferences and widely published in the leading journals in his field. Faced with the global challenge of the escalating incidence of childhood lung diseases, Professor Peter Sly seeks to identify and develop preventative strategies for children at greatest risk.

Professor Sly has moved from Western Australia to undertake research into chronic childhood lung diseases and shares his time between the QCMRI and Royal Children’s Hospital. In addition to his role as director of the IADRG, he is also the Director of the Children’s Health and Environment Program and Deputy Director of QCMRI. Since starting at the QCMRI, Professor Sly has also established the Brisbane Lung Research Group.                                                                                                                          

 

Chief Operating Officer

 
Marcus Engeman

Mr Marcus Engeman is the Chief Operating Officer at Queensland Children’s Medical Research Institute and is responsible for managing all non-research elements of the Institute. 

Formerly with the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) as Manager of Infrastructure and Resources in the Division of Research and Commercialisation, Mr Engeman assisted in establishing and managing QUT’s Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation (IHBI) and three other flagship Institutes.  

Mr Engeman was responsible for the management of QUT’s research budget and assisted the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research & Commercialisation) in shaping the University’s research agenda.
